ExCel

ExCel is a process that scaffolds student learning. ExCel provides remediation, acceleration, and enrichment. Every student in the school is placed in a flexible skill group based on instructional levels from data. As the student learns, the groups change and become new groups. The lessons are fast paced and research based. ExCel is an extra learning boost for all learners in the school. Every student is included in ExCel. Currently, K-4 students have ExCel groups in Reading. In Reading, every student has an ExCel group with guided reading lessons in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade and also has reading at another time that covers the basal reader, Essential Literature, writing, and other balanced literacy lessons. In Kindergarten and 1st grade, a skills model called the “Arkansas Model” is used during ExCel. In 3rd and 4th grade, students have ExCel groups in Mathematics.
